Extra Curricular STEAM Clubs

At St Columba’s, we believe extracurricular learning is just as important as what happens in the classroom. Our clubs give students the chance to follow their passions, develop new skills, and explore exciting areas of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics). Each club is designed to be hands-on, fun, and full of opportunities for creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving.

Our after-school clubs are proudly run by Kids Unlimited, with programs rotated throughout the year to provide variety and flexibility for busy families. Whether your child is building robots, exploring electronics, experimenting with science, or creating with code, there’s always something new to try. Combined with our in-school STEAM opportunities, these clubs ensure every student has the chance to explore their interests and develop skills for the future.

Robotics Club

Our Robotics Club sparks creativity and innovation as students use LEGO® WeDo kits to design, build, and program their own robots. Along the way, they explore coding concepts such as sequencing, loops, and sensors, learning how to make their robots move, react, and complete specific challenges.

Each session blends building with real-world engineering principles, encouraging students to work as a team to troubleshoot and improve their designs. The result is an engaging and rewarding environment where imagination meets technology.

Electronics Club

In Electronics Club, students take their curiosity into the world of circuits and devices. They learn how everyday technology works by experimenting with batteries, resistors, lights, buzzers, and motors.

From building simple circuits to more advanced creations, students gain a practical understanding of how electricity powers our world. The club encourages exploration, problem-solving, and resilience, giving students the confidence to design, test, and refine their own electronic projects.

Science Club

Science Club is a place for budding scientists to experiment, question, and discover. Each week, students take part in hands-on investigations—mixing, testing, and exploring the science behind how things work.

From chemistry experiments and physics demonstrations to environmental projects, Science Club nurtures curiosity and connects classroom learning to the world around us. Students are encouraged to think like scientists: making predictions, testing their ideas, and sharing discoveries with their peers.

Coding Club

Coding Club empowers students to become creators of technology rather than just users. Using age-appropriate platforms, they learn the fundamentals of coding, such as logic, problem-solving, and computational thinking, by building games, animations, and interactive stories.

As their skills grow, students tackle more complex projects that challenge their creativity and persistence. Coding Club helps students see the power of programming and builds a strong foundation for future learning in the digital world.

STEAM Lunch Time Club

Led by our STEAM Leader, Miss Rachael, the STEAM Lunchtime Club is a hub of creativity and collaboration. Each week, students take on exciting challenges such as LEGO Masters-inspired design competitions, engineering builds, or quick-fire problem-solving tasks.

The club is open to all students and offers a fun, informal space to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics through teamwork and imagination. It’s a great way for students to stretch their creativity while having fun with friends.

What our parents & students say
