Eco Warriors awarded for eco excellence!

Today Sharron from the Port Phillip EcoCentre presented the 3/4 students with their certificates for being excellent Eco Warriors for St Columba's.

Sharron has been instrumental in helping our school be a ResourceSmart school and we'd like to thank both the Eco Centre and our Green Team parents for all of their help and dedication to our program.

World Habitat Day

St Columba's will be celebrating World Habitat Day on Friday 7 October.

To recognise the occasion, we are asking you to dress with a touch of green, anything from green socks to a green t-shirt or even green hair - in return for a gold coin donation. World Habitat Day reminds us that we all have the power and the responsibility to shape the environmental future of our community.

St Columba's wins Green School of the Year!

St Columba's took home the award for 'Green School of the Year' on Friday - the top prize at the 11th Annual EcoCentre Sustainable Schools Festival.

The Green School of the Year Award recognises a school for extraordinary, whole-school progress and community leadership for sustainability.

St Columba's single sustainability star on our front gate will soon be joined by two new friends. ResourceSmart Schools has awarded us two new stars in recognition of our energy and waste progress on our school's sustainability journey bringing our grand total to three stars!

ResourceSmart Schools is a Victorian Government initiative that helps schools benefit from embedding sustainability in everything they do.

Eco Warriors & National Tree Planting Day

On the 29th of July the 3/4's participated in the National Tree Planting Day. We planted shrubs and understory plants to freshen up our school.
The title of our Inquiry unit this term is called With My Own Two Hands, and we have literally been doing things with our own two hands by planting lots of native plants in our school garden beds.
