St Columba's school works in partnership with the Parish and parents to nurture the religious identity of each child.
As a Catholic school, we are called to act with compassion and empathy, to respect and care for our world and for the most vulnerable and to promote inclusion and provide community. It is through our Catholic values and motto "the little school with a big heart' that we actively encourage our students to think beyond themselves and to live out their faith through service and action.
Across all areas of the curriculum our Catholic faith, traditions and Social Justice are seen as central to our learning. As such Religious Education is not taught in isolation, instead it is linked to our units of inquiry with a strong emphasis on the Catholic Social Justice teachings. Our parish includes not only St Columba's but also Sacred Heart St Kilda West and Sacred Heart Mission. Each year level at our school is aligned closely with the work of Sacred Heart Mission, thus providing our students with rich learning opportunities that endeavour to make meaningful connections between our faith and how we respond to the world around us.
