The Parents & Friends Association holds a central place at St Columba’s school.
The primary role of the PFA is to:
- create a cohesive community by bringing parents together to socialise and celebrate at various times throughout the school year,
- organise a variety of fundraising events during the school year which directly benefit primarily the school, and
- to actively work with the teaching staff to provide assistance and help with various classroom and general school activities.
The PFA holds regular meetings during school terms to organise the various social and fundraising events that occur. The funds raised from these events assist in the purchase of new resources for the school community. All parents are welcome to attend the PFA meetings at any time throughout the year.
The PFA consists of an executive committee and at least two class reps from each year. All parents are encouraged to join the PFA as a class representative or as an executive committee member and/or be actively involved in fundraising and social events.
Each class has a parent representative from the PFA. The class representative role is a very important one in terms of ensuring timely communication with other families in the class.
The class representative distributes a class contact list and acts as a central liaison for classroom information. They contact parents as required and organise social activities. They also invite parents to events and assist the PFA in developing volunteer rosters for the various social and fundraising activities.
