Discovering math opportunities everywhere

Our year 5/6 students have been busy thinking about ways that we can see and recognise math in everyday situations. They used resources from around the school to test out some of their questions.

Some of their questions include:

  • What is the percentage of free throw shots I can make?
  • What is the average length of a year 5/6 students school shoe?
  • What is the difference in length between the inside and outside running tracks?
  • On average how many cars pass the school on Glen Huntly Road during school hours?

The students enjoyed discovering the answers to their questions and realising that math can be seen everywhere in our world.
